In spite of all the criticism and ill gossip, Bihar never compromised its age long social flexibility and adaptability, the ability to accept everything worthy from all while maintaining its own glorious culture. When you get a chance to visit Bihar, you will understand what I mean to say here. Forget the horrifying image projected by the media. I have traveled countrywide but never found a more civilized destination than Bihar. If you want to know how an educated society ought to behave, visit Bihar.

How is Bihar a metropolitan destination?

Bihar Is A Great Historical Place

History is the mirror

Bihar is gifted with a rich historical background. Great empires like Magadha, Ang, Videh etc. have flourished here and men like Gautam Buddha, Ashoka, Chandragupta and Chanakya have spent their lives in its arms. The ancient Nalanda University is believed to have been a great seat of learning where people from all parts of the world came and studied. It is therefore natural for Bihar that its people inherit a knowledge based thinking instead of stereotyping that is prevalent in most parts of the world today.

Respect for other cultures

In contrast to the culture of some other Indian states like Delhi, Punjab, Maharashtra and Assam where out comers are treated with hate and disgust (even beaten and humiliated), Bihar has a tradition of respecting its visitors irrespective of the belief they pursue or the part of the world they come from. You must never have heard any foreigner being molested here, though it is a common phenomenon for Delhi. This is what a cosmopolitan behavior consists of.

Equality and social awareness

People are recognized in Bihar by the quality of knowledge they command, not by the type of attire they don. A common man is aware of the problems of the society and country. Co-education is seen at its best, in the sense that boys and girls share equal respect and honor here, unlike the Indian metro cities where boys see girls as an object of enjoyment and girls regard guys no better than dogs.

The ability to survive and change

Bihar has got the immense capability to exist beyond the atrocities and miseries. Faced with dual weapons of drought and flood every year, it produces the best quality of rice in India. People sell their farms to educate the youngsters here and thus produce some of the cream intellectuals of the country. Ignored and exploited continually by the central government, Bihar still grants a happy and satisfied life to its citizens, even amid intense poverty and unemployment conditions.
